The High Authority for Health (HAS) and the National Cancer Institute (Inca) announced the publication of the guide ALD30 (for protracted No. 30) for doctors on treating lung cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma . Thoracoscopy

PET scan
It is a procedure in which a small amount of glucose (sugar) radiation is injected directly into the vein and a scanner is used to create computer images that detail the areas within the body where the glucose is used. Because cancer cells tend to use more glucose than normal cells, this procedure and its images can be used to find cancer cells in the body.

Thoracoscopy
The diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma may mean that your doctor performs a physical exam within the chest cavity with an observation instrument called a thoracoscope. For this procedure, an incision through the chest wall and enters the device between two ribs. Generally, this procedure is performed in the hospital.

Recent Innovations in the Treatment

Alimta
Doctors and researchers are always looking to discover new forms of treatment of mesothelioma. The following innovations in treatment, even if not a cure for mesothelioma, shows promise in the treatment of evil.

Alimta
The Alimta, when administered in conjunction with another drug called cisplatin, is a drug recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma.

Photodynamic Therapy
Photodynamic therapy uses special drugs and a specific type of light to kill cancer cells during surgery. Days before surgery, the patient is injected intravenously, a drug that makes cancer cells more sensitive to light. During surgery, a special light is used to locate the cancer. This treatment is used in the early stages of mesothelioma.
